Welcome Ministry

Mission
To meet and interact with each visitor after Sunday services.

Vision
Every person visiting Unity Christ Church leaves with a sense of warmth, welcome and connectedness, having been welcomed by at least one person.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Attend either the 9:30 or 11 service as scheduled, being aware of the people who identify themselves as visitors to our church.
  • After the service, be in the foyer or Fillmore Room wearing a Welcome Team badge, and engage those wearing "guest" leis in conversation.
  • Introduce those individuals you have greeted to other members of the church, the staff, Board of Directors, the minister or any others whom you think they may enjoy meeting.
  • Working with another Welcome Team member, be sure that each visitor has been met and talked with before leaving our church.

Qualities
The people who answer the call of this ministry have a positive, loving attitude and enjoy helping people feel at home and welcomed at our church. They are friendly and willing to reach out to others, and are familiar with the church facilities, staff and members.

Time Commitment
One Sunday per month for six months


Top



Usher or Greeter

Mission
To help people feel welcome and included; and to help ensure that Sunday services flow smoothly.

Vision
To serve by being friendly and outgoing; to be one of the first contacts a person makes when entering the church.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Arrive promptly 15 minutes before the start of the service 
  • Meet with Sunday Service Coordinator to determine your position, pray-in, and begin pre-service duties.
  • Greeters ~ welcome people as they arrive.
  • Ushers ~ facilitate seating in the Sanctuary, hand out bulletins, give Welcome Packets to visitors, and receive the offering and bring forward for blessing.
  • Stay after service to straighten the sanctuary, meet as a team, and close with prayer.

Qualities
The people who are called to this team have a positive, loving and welcoming attitude. They enjoy reaching out and meeting new people. They are punctual and dependable, and have a willingness to contribute through service.

Time Commitment
One Sunday, one service per month for six months

Bookstore

Mission
To provide a clean, neat area where spiritual books are kept in an orderly fashion for sale to benefit the purchaser and the church and where all who come to the bookstore feel welcomed and inspired.

Vision
That the Unity Christ Church Bookstore is a dynamic place where people come to purchase the best, newest and leading-edge books on spirituality, where we keep an abundant inventory of all the Unity Truth teaching books, and where everyone who comes in is inspired to browse and buy many interesting items.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Assists individuals with selecting and purchasing any materials for sale in our bookstore.
  • Answers the telephone and directs the call as necessary or answers any questions as appropriate.

Qualities
The person who responds to this call of ministry will enjoy working with people and have a love of books, be detail-oriented, possess good telephone manners, and feel comfortable handling monetary transactions.

Time Commitment
One Sunday per month for six months.

Daily Word Ministry

Mission
To share the inspiring message of the Daily Word at the Sunday Service.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Arrive at the church 10 minutes before the service to coordinate reading with the Sunday Service team and to get a copy of the Daily Word
  • Read the Daily Word to the congregation as part of the Sunday Service

Qualities
The person who responds to the calling of this ministry has a clear reading voice and is dressed in a clean attire.

Time Commitment
Based on availability. Sign-up sheet is located in the Fillmore Room.

Hospitality

Mission
To provide a spiritual center of food and fellowship where all are welcome.

Vision
To be a dedicated, nurturing force for good in the lives of all individuals who partake of our food and fellowship.

Areas of Responsibility ~ Co-coordinator

  • Share responsibilities with the other co-coordinator for the organization and implementation of the team.

Areas of Responsibility ~ Sunday Hospitality Host/Hostess

  • Coordinate all the food brought to the church for fellowship after the 9:30 and 11 services on Sunday (and on some special events and holidays).
  • Set out all the food brought and assembled during the service so that it is available right after the service is completed.
  • Work with an assistant and be able to guide and direct, working as a team so that everything is ready after the service.
  • Clear off the tables, put away leftovers, clean tables, wash dishes, sweep floors, empty trash with assistant.

Areas of Responsibility ~ Sunday Hospitality Assistants

  • Assist the Sunday coordinator with all aspects of set-up for the fellowship to provide a warm and loving atmosphere.
  • Assist the coordinator in all clean-up activities after the fellowship.

Areas of Responsibility ~ Sunday Sharers

  • Anyone with a desire to share their favorite food is encouraged to donate food for fellowship after the 9:30 and 11 services.

Qualities
The people drawn to this ministry are loving, nurturing people with love for one another and a desire to share their ministry through the preparation and delivery of food for fellowship. They have a desire to work as a team with others and be gracious hosts for our community.

Time Commitment
One Sunday per month for six months.

Coffee Angel

Mission
To provide coffee, tea, and other refreshment drinks for all the people who attend the Sunday services each week. To also provide this service as a ministry for special events at the church whenever necessary.

Vision
To effectively provide this ministry in an orderly, neat, pleasing manner knowing that we are blessed in our actions.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Arrive early on Sunday morning to set up the table and make coffee for the Sunday Services.
  • Arrange the table in an orderly and hospitable manner, fill all necessary supplies, and recheck the table after the 9:30 service.
  • Clean up the coffee table, wash the coffee maker, restock the supplies, and clean the table.
  • Be available at times for special events other than the Sunday services.

Qualities
The persons who are hearing the call of this ministry have a definite sense of service and giving, are comfortable working "behind the scenes" and are dependable.

Time Commitment
One Sunday per month either as a set-up person, clean-up person, or both.

Sound & Lights


Mission
To ensure good sound quality during service. To record meditation and service, control sound and visual effects.

Vision
Enjoy ensuring a good sound quality during service. Staying on top of varied sound and sound and visual effect needs. Enjoy giving others, who are not present at the service or who would like to hear the service again, the opportunity to hear a good quality recording.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure good sound quality during Sunday Service.
  • Record Sunday meditation and Message and make copies on CDs and/or computer files.
  • Time Sound and Visual Effects during service

Qualities

The people in this service enjoys creating experiences for people through attention to detail and attentiveness. The person has the ability to learn the use of and use technical equipment.


Time Commitment
One service per month.
